A.M.T.O.S. Class Atmospheric Fighter

(Atmospheric, Mandatory, Tactical, Operations, Ship)

Mk. 1 Model - not shown

Mk. 2 Model - A picture of is flying in formation at the bottom of this section.

Mk. 3 Model - Picture featured at the top. Slimmed nose, new armor, rear top stabilizers lengthened and tilted further, and armor has been added to the missile pods. The A.M.T.O.S. atmospheric fighter, designed for atmospheric assault or defence, it has a moderate ranged space flight capability. AMTOS can be delivered by carrier to a planets surface, AMTOS also has the ability to make it back into space from the planets atmosphere, to the carrier, where it can be refueled and delivered to its next target. It is designed for assault against facilities and population, it is armed with 48 missiles in 2 large pods, a type of weapon called a hornets nest, each pod fires 3 missiles at once at its designated target, the missiles scater out, and eventually hit center on its target, the idea is that if the target misses the bulk of the missile volley, atleast a few of the 6 will hit. AMTOS also has 4 meson blasters positioned on the front of the fighter, they are fully automatic, with abilities to fire 6 shots per second without recharging. 2 phaser cannons are positioned on the outer wings, either to make bringing down an intercepting fighter easier, or blasting a chunk out of a facility, both meson blaster and phaser cannon cannot be fired, the phaser cannons have too much power consumption, and the AMTOS must first take its meson blasters offline. Each wing has a swiveling ablity, giving it the ability to harness the winds of an atmosphere, its maneuverability is quite great. It has moderate/heavy phased shielding, and light/light-moderate armorment, they can be varried, pending the supporting airbases order. One person can sit in the rear of the cockpit if so desired, and target the missiles himself, the hornets nest missiles can be replaced with a slower warhead and targetted at facilities only, however a volley of hornets can be quite destructive in itself. TSF feels the AMTOS marks a new and valuable type of design to its arsenal, and perhaps in the future will work on a fighter withh atmospheric capability, mixed with long ranged space flight capability.
